Texas Census 2000 TIGER/Line-Files

| Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line®-Files |
The Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files are specifically intended to support the needs of the redistricting community. Because of the timing of this release it does NOT include the ZIP Code® Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs.) nor updated address ranges based on the final Census 2000 information. The address ranges are comparable to those in the 1999 TIGER/Line files. The Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files cover all counties, parishes, boroughs, census geographic areas and equivalent entities for each state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files will NOT include files for American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, the Minor Outlying Areas (Midway), and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Census 2000 TIGER/Line files, scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2001, will include files for these areas, as well as the ZCTA information and the updated Census 2000 address ranges. |
| Census 2000 TIGER/Line®-Files |
The Census 2000 TIGER/Line files contain all Census 2000 entities EXCEPT FOR urban areas (2000) and Public Use Microdata Areas (PUMAs) (2000), which have not yet been delineated. The Census 2000 TIGER/Line files include ZIP Code® Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs). The address ranges appearing the Census 2000 TIGER/Line files are based upon the addresses in the final Master Address File (MAF) used for tabulating Census 2000. These are the major differences between the Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 versions of the TIGER/Line files. The Census Bureau has corrected some name and attribute information that appeared in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. |
| UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line®-Files |
The UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files contain all Census 2000 entities included in the Census 2000 version of TIGER/Line, as well as Census 2000 vintage Urban Areas and Public Use Microdata Areas (PUMAs). The primary differences in this version from the Census 2000 version is the inclusion of the Census 2000 Urbanized Areas (UAs), Urban Clusters (UCs), and Public Use Microdata Areas (PUMAs). |
| 2002 TIGER/Line®-Files |
The 2002 TIGER/Line files contain very few updates to street features or address ranges from the Census 2000 versions of the TIGER/Line files. Some additional features have been added in 20 counties where the Census Bureau realigned the street feature coordinates. The U.S. Census Bureau has made major structural changes to the 2002 TIGER/Line file format. We have deleted two record types (3 and 9) and added others (B, E, T, and U). Several record types were expanded and substantially revised by rearranging the location of the data fields. Please note that the distribution unit for the 2002 TIGER/Line files will be by "current", or 2002, county. The 2002 TIGER/Line file coverage is as follows: all counties, parishes, boroughs, census areas and equivalent entities for each state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Island Areas. |
| 108th CD Census 2000 TIGER/Line®-Files |
The 108th CD Census 2000 TIGER/Line files are the latest verison of the Census 2000 TIGER/Line files and use the same file format as the other Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. It does not reflect the major reformatting of the TIGER/Line files that appear in the post-Census 2000 (2002) TIGER/Line file versions. However, there are some field name and content changes from earlier versions of the Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The major difference between the 108th CD Census 2000 TIGER/Line files and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files is that the 108th CD Census 2000 TIGER/Line files contain the 108th Congressional Districts. The 108th CD Census 2000 TIGER/Line files also contain the corrected Census 2000 Urban Areas and the 1990 Urban Areas, redefined based on the Census 2000 Urban and Rural criteria. |
